Saturday, October 14
vs. Colorado Springs Switchbacks FC
Kickoff – 7:00 p.m. at ONEOK Field
Tulsa Roughnecks FC will close out its 2017 regular season schedule on Saturday, October 14 by hosting the Colorado Springs Switchbacks FC at ONEOK Field. Kickoff is scheduled for 7:00 p.m.
The match will be presented by 2 Works For You and 106.9 K-Hits. It will be a “Buck” Night promotion with fans able to purchase soft drinks, beer, popcorn and hot dogs for only $1 each. The Roughnecks Rally will begin at 5:00pm at the Busch Scoreboard Bar and will feature kid’s activities as well as food and drink specials for adults. Fans attending the Rally can enter through the Archer Gate.
The game will serve as a playoff tune-up as the Roughnecks clinched their spot in the postseason with a 1-0 victory last Saturday over Seattle Sounders FC 2. TRFC could finish anywhere from the sixth spot to the eighth spot in the Western Conference standings of the USL. Currently, Tulsa is in the sixth position and could guarantee that spot with a win over the Switchbacks.
With last week’s victory, the Roughnecks improved their season point total to 46 from a 14-13-4 record. The 14 victories are a franchise record for TRFC.
The Switchbacks will not qualify for the postseason and have 41 points with an 11-12-8 record.
It will be the sixth meeting all-time between Tulsa and Colorado Springs with the Switchbacks officially holding a 3-2-0 advantage in the series. But, their initial win this season came via forfeiture after TRFC posted a 4-1 win in the season opener for both teams.
Following Saturday’s game, the Post-Match Party will take place at Elgin Park, located across the street from ONEOK Field. The Post-Match Party is open to fans of all ages and gives them the chance to meet with Roughnecks players and coaches.
For fans unable to attend the game, it will be televised live in the Tulsa area by Cox Communications on YurView Channel 1334. The telecast will also be available on YouTube through the USL Match Center.
Roughnecks in the Playoffs
The final standings in the Western Conference will be determined upon the completion of this weekend’s matches. A win on Saturday would guarantee TRFC a sixth-place finish and first-round playoff match against the third seed.
The playoff bracket for the top eight finishers has the following matchups in the first round of action. The #1 seed hosts the #8 seed, #2 hosts #7, #3 hosts #6 and #4 hosts #5. The winner of each match moves on in the playoff bracket.
The Roughnecks will play their first-round match away from home, but with a victory, could possibly host a second-round match, depending on the results of the other first-round games. The lower seeded team in each matchup will host the second-round game.
