It’s your chance to watch two of the biggest names in international soccer as Didier Drogba and Omar Bravo come to Tulsa on Saturday, July 22 when the Roughnecks host Phoenix Rising FC at ONEOK Field.  The first 1,000 fans to enter through the Oil Derrick and Arvest Entrances will receive a pair of Roughnecks sunglasses courtesy of News On 6 and Buzz Sports Network.

Lefty’s On Greenwood will be the place to go before and after the match.  Located, across the street from ONEOK Field, Lefty’s will be offering drink and food specials for soccer fans before kickoff and afterwards at the Official After-Match Party.

Tulsa Roughnecks FC will host its highest profile match of the season when it takes on Phoenix Rising FC at ONEOK Field on Saturday, July 22.  The Phoenix roster features former Mexico National Team star Omar Bravo and former Chelsea F.C. legend Didier Drogba.  Drogba helped Chelsea win its first English Premier League title in 50 years and the club’s first-ever UEFA Champions League title.  Both Bravo and Drogba have played and scored in World Cups while representing their home countries of Mexico and Ivory Coast.  The Phoenix roster also includes former Chelsea winger Shaun Wright-Phillips.

Saturday’s match will be important for both sides as they look to improve their places in the USL’s Western Conference standings.  TRFC currently sits in the eighth and final playoff spot in the Western Conference table, one spot ahead of Phoenix but with one extra game played.  Both teams have 22 points on the season, TRFC with a 7-8-1 record after 16 matches and Phoenix with a 6-5-4 mark through 15 matches.

Fans are encouraged to purchase their tickets for Saturday’s match in advance.  Tickets are available online at, over the telephone at (918)744-5901 or in-person at the ONEOK Field Ticket Office.

The match will also be available for viewing through the USL Match Center on YouTube, but Cox subscribers in Tulsa can watch the game live on YurView Channel 1333.  Every home match for the remainder of the regular season, with the one exception, will be shown live by Cox.

ROUGHNECKS AT ONEOK FIELD:  The Roughnecks are 5-3-0 in their first eight home matches at ONEOK Field this season, including wins in four of their last five outings.

ALL-TIME AGAINST PHOENIX/ARIZONA:  The Roughnecks have good history against Phoenix, never losing to the team when it was known as Arizona United.  TRFC is 3-0-1 all-time against the franchise, including a 2-0-0 mark at ONEOK Field.

CAUTION CONCERN:   Defender Jorge Corrales is one caution away from receiving a mandatory one-game suspension.  If Corrales can avoid a yellow card in the next two matches, his caution total would be reduced by one, meaning he would need two additional yellow cards to receive a suspension.

COLOR COMBINATIONS:  Tulsa will wear its standard all orange kits for Saturday’s match.  Phoenix will be in its all white kits.

COMING UP:  Saturday’s match opens a busy set of home games for TRFC with four of its next five matches being played at ONEOK Field.  The Roughnecks will host Reno 1868 on August 5, Saint Louis FC on August 10 and OKC Energy for the Black Gold Derby on August 12.

TRFC goalkeeper Fabian Cerda and his defenders will be tested by a Phoenix side that includes Didier Drogba, Omar Bravo and Shaun Wright-Phillips. (Lori Scholl)
