To keep the blood supply strong during the summer months, Oklahoma Blood Institute (OBI) is urging all Oklahomans to make blood donation a priority. A blood drive with the Tulsa Roughnecks will occur on Saturday, August 12, from 1:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. at ONEOK Field.
Each blood donor will receive a pair of Roughnecks tickets to the September 23 match against the Los Angeles Galaxy II, a pass for two to Safari Joe’s H2O Water Park, an Oklahoma themed T-shirt, and a chance to win Field Level Suite Tickets.
“Everyone knows someone who’s needed blood. It impacts all ages of people and often arises unexpectedly as a result of accident or illness,” said Jan Laub, Executive Director, OBI Tulsa, “Whether we know them or not, there are people now who are counting on us to give.”
“We are excited to continue our partnership with the Oklahoma Blood Institute,” said Justin Gorski, Director of Promotions & Entertainment for the Roughnecks, “We had a tremendous response in year one, and we hope to grow drive participation even more to help as many people in our community as we can.”
Oklahoma Blood Institute’s volunteer donors provide every drop of blood needed by patients in 90 percent of the medical facilities across Oklahoma including all Children’s, Veteran’s and Indian Hospitals. Anyone, 16 and older* and, generally in good health, can typically donate blood. Donations can be made every 56 days.
