The Roustabouts will be hosting a Watch Party for Monday’s for fans ages 21 and over at the Whiskey Dog. The Whiskey Dog is located at 2408 W. New Orleans St. in Broken Arrow.
It will be the second and final meeting of the regular season between the Western Conference sides. Tulsa recorded a 2-0 home victory on July 1 at ONEOK Field as Joaquin Rivas and Ian Svantesson scored goals. It is one of only two losses this season for the Monarchs.
TRFC has never lost at Rio Tinto Stadium, recording 1-1 draws in both its 2015 and 2016 visits. Overall, the Roughnecks have a 2-1-2 all-time record against the Monarchs.
The Roughnecks come into the meeting with an unblemished 3-0-1 record during the month of July. Tulsa has 25 points on the season with an 8-8-1 record, good for seventh spot in the Western Conference standings.
The Monarchs enter the game with a USL best 47 points and a 15-2-2 record, seven points clear of second-place San Antonio in the Western Conference table.
The Roughnecks are expected to be at full strength for Monday’s match with head coach David Vaudreuil able to choose from his entire squad for his lineup. Midfielder Jacori Hayes, who was subbed off late in Saturday’s win over Phoenix following a tough challenge, has recovered sufficiently to be available for TRFC.
THIERJUNG SCORES ON DEBUT
Forward Christian Thierjung was signed just prior to last Saturday’s meeting with Phoenix and made an impressive debut. Thierjung came on as late substitute and scored less than five minutes after entering the match. The University of California product was a third-round pick of the San Jose Earthquakes in this year’s MLS SuperDraft.
TRFC ADDS MIDFIELDER LEVIN
The Roughnecks have signed midfielder Jonathan Levin to a USL contract for the remainder of the season, pending league and federation approval. The 24-year-old Levin last played in the Mexican second division for Veracruz.
Following Monday’s match, the Roughnecks will return home for three straight matches. The important stretch of games will begin on Saturday, August 5 with TRFC hosting in-form Reno 1868 FC at ONEOK Field.
Saint Louis FC will visit Tulsa on Thursday, August 10, followed by the second edition of the 2017 Black Gold Derby when OKC Energy visits ONEOK Field on Saturday, August 12.
