The Tulsa Roughnecks FC ran its unbeaten streak to three straight games late Thursday night with a hard fought 2-2 draw in California with an inspired Los Angeles Galaxy II side. The Roughnecks overcame a 2-0 halftime deficit with second-half goals from defender Mo Jadama and team scoring leader Ian Svantesson to claim the point.

The draw was the first this season for TRFC. The result leaves the Roughnecks in the eighth position in the Western Conference standings with 22 points and a 7-8-1 record. Los Dos improves to 15 points with a 4-11-3 mark.
The match began with an open first half. The Roughnecks nearly took the lead in the 18th minute when a hard, right-footed shot from Collin Fernandez forced a save from Galaxy II goalkeeper Jack Lopez. The rebound rolled free in the box among a group of players, but a Tulsa attacker could not get another shot away.
Galaxy II cleared the danger and quickly counter attacked. A pass found Adrian Vera deep on the left side. Vera cut inside near the end line and fired a shot from a tough angle inside Fabian Cerda’s far post to give Los Dos the lead.
Five minutes later, Galaxy II doubled its lead on a goal very similar to the one Cerda and TRFC surrendered last weekend in OKC. Adrian Vera beat Jadama about ten yards outside the top of the box and alertly noticed the Tulsa keeper off his line. Vera neatly chipped over Cerda’s head and placed the shot into the net to put Galaxy II in front 2-0.
The second-half possession was dominated by the Roughnecks as they pressed forward and Los Dos looked to protect its two-goal lead. The pressure finally paid off in the 62nd minute when a corner kick from Joaquin Rivas skipped through the box to an unmarked Jadama. The TRFC defender hammered his right-footed shot past Lopez to pull Tulsa to within a goal.
The Roughnecks pressure continued, and they leveled the score in the 71st minute. Kosuke Kimura beat a pair of defenders on the right wing and led a pass to an onrushing Collin Fernandez. Fernandez had room for a shot, but he delivered a cross to Svantesson who fired into the back of the net to make it 2-2. It was the team-leading seventh goal of the season for the big striker.
TRFC continued to push forward in search of a game winner, but it would not come as Lopez turned in an impressive performance in goal for Galaxy II. The 18-year-old keeper made several big saves to deny the Roughnecks the full three points, despite Tulsa holding a 70-30% advantage in possession and a 19-11 advantage in shots.
The Roughnecks now have eight days to prepare for one of their highest-profile matches of the season. Next Saturday, July 22, Phoenix Rising FC will visit ONEOK Field along with former Chelsea superstars Didier Drogba and Shaun Wright-Phillips and Mexico International superstar Omar Bravo. Kickoff for the match is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. in downtown Tulsa. Tickets are available by clicking HERE.
