Tulsa Roughnecks FC returns to action Wednesday night in the Lamar Hunt US Open Cup with a third round meeting with San Antonio FC at the University of Tulsa’s Hurricane Soccer and Track Stadium.  At stake is a fourth-round matchup with F.C. Dallas of Major League Soccer and the reigning US Open Cup Champions.  Kickoff on Wednesday is scheduled for 7:00pm.

Tickets will be available at the gate and are only $10 each.  Kids, ages 12 and under, can get tickets for only $5 each.  Roughnecks season ticket holders will receive tickets to the match as a benefit of being a season ticket holder.  To receive their complimentary tickets, they will just need to present identification at the ticket table Saturday night.

Wednesday’s match marks the first official meeting of the season between Tulsa and San Antonio.  The two sides did play to a 1-1 draw in the preseason.

SAFC has been top team in the USL this season, going undefeated in 11 outings.  San Antonio has 29 points in league play with a 9-0-2 record and advanced in the Open Cup with a 2-1 second-round victory over Dutch Lions FC.

The Roughnecks enter the match in third place in the USL Western Conference standings, trailing only San Antonio and Real Monarchs in the table.  TRFC posted a 3-1 win over Portland Timbers 2 in its last outing Saturday night to even its league record at 5-5-0.  The Roughnecks advanced to the Cup meeting with San Antonio with a 5-3 win over the Oklahoma City Energy U23 team, a PDL side.

If Tulsa can defeat San Antonio, it will set up a trip to Texas to face F.C. Dallas on June 14 at SMU’s Westcott Field.  A victory for the Roughnecks on Wednesday would also give them their deepest run in the US Open Cup in their three-year history in the event.

LAMAR HUNT U.S. OPEN CUP:  This year’s tournament marks the 104th playing of the U.S. Open Cup. The single elimination tournament is the oldest ongoing national soccer competition in the United States and is the world's third-longest-running open soccer tournament. In 1999, U.S. Soccer honored Lamar Hunt, one of American soccer's most important patrons, by changing the official title of the tournament to the Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup.

TRFC OPEN CUP HISTORY:  TRFC has a 2-2 record in it U.S. Open Cup history.  In 2015, the Roughnecks posted a 1-0 win over Seacoast United, a PDL team from New Hampshire, in a match that was also played on the campus of the University of Tulsa.  The Roughnecks were eliminated in the third round with a 1-0 loss to the OKC Energy USL team.  Last year, TRFC was beaten 2-0 in Iowa in a second round meeting with the Des Moines Menace of the PDL.

FULL SQUAD AVAILABLE:  TRFC Head Coach David Vaudreuil should have his full squad available for Wednesday’s match as no injuries were reported following the weekend meeting with the Timbers 2.
